Top Soil & Seeding

Restore your yard after tree or stump removal. Quality topsoil and professional seeding for a clean, green finish. Serving Central Kentucky since 1957.

Professional Topsoil & Lawn Seeding

After we remove a tree or grind a stump, you are left with bare ground. We add topsoil and seed so your yard looks finished — not like a job site.

We handle the entire job from removal to restoration. One crew, one call — no need to hire a separate landscaper.

What's Included

Finish the Job Right

Curb Appeal

A bare dirt patch where a tree used to stand drags down the look of your entire yard. Topsoil and seeding turn that eyesore into a clean, green lawn that blends with the rest of your property.

Soil Health

Stump grinding leaves behind wood chips and sawdust that pull nitrogen from the soil as they decompose. Fresh topsoil replaces depleted nutrients and gives grass seed the foundation it needs to take root.

Property Value

A well-maintained lawn adds real value to your home. Finishing the job with topsoil and seed means the area formerly occupied by a tree becomes a usable, attractive part of your landscape instead of a reminder of what was removed.

Our Topsoil & Seeding Process

1. Site Assessment
We evaluate the area after tree or stump removal — checking soil condition, drainage, grade, and the amount of debris left behind. If you’re adding this to a removal job, we plan ahead so the transition is seamless.
2. Debris Cleanup & Grading
We clear wood chips, roots, and sawdust from the area, then grade the ground so it’s level with the surrounding lawn. This prevents water pooling and gives the topsoil a solid base.
3. Topsoil Application
We spread quality topsoil to fill the area and create a nutrient-rich layer for grass seed. The soil is compacted lightly and raked smooth to match the surrounding grade.
4. Seeding & Protection
We distribute grass seed evenly, ensuring proper seed-to-soil contact for optimal germination. A straw cover or mulch layer protects the seed from washing away and helps retain moisture.
5. Care Instructions
We walk you through what to expect and how to water the area for the best results. Most areas show new growth within 2-3 weeks with proper watering.

Frequently Asked Questions

In most cases, yes. Stump grinding leaves a hole filled with wood chips and sawdust. As those decompose, they pull nitrogen from the surrounding soil, making it difficult for grass to grow. Filling the area with fresh topsoil gives you a solid, nutrient-rich base for new grass seed.
With proper watering, you should see new grass sprouting within 2-3 weeks. Full establishment typically takes 6-8 weeks depending on the season, weather, and seed type. Spring and early fall are the best times for seeding in Central Kentucky.
We do our best to match your existing lawn type. Most lawns in our service area are fescue or bluegrass blends. We select seed that will blend with your current grass as it grows in.
Absolutely — that is how most customers use this service. We can include topsoil and seeding as part of your tree or stump removal quote so everything gets handled in one visit. It saves you time and the cost of hiring a separate landscaper.
That is an option too. After stump grinding, we can rake the area level and leave the wood chips in place. They make decent mulch for garden beds. Just keep in mind that grass will not grow well through wood chips — if you want a lawn, topsoil and seed is the way to go.
